The key driver for BPO in telecom is demand for customer care services. The major reason for the growing importance of the quality customer care services is that it is the only differentiator and more so technology is uniformly accessible to all providers.

BPO for telecom is also a huge job creator, employing over 1,22,440 people in BPO firms in 2008  a number that is set to more than double to 2,94,444 in 2012. After telecom, banking is the biggest employment generator for domestic BPO firms. The primary reason for the growth of the sector is due to telecom companies like Bharti Airtel, which played a pioneering role by outsourcing many of its non-core functions in 2005, changed the way Indian firms have traditionally run business and putting pressure on others to follow suit. Telecom revenues made up 50% of the domestic BPO revenues at $661 million in 2008.

The job opportunities in BPO industry are rising and to tap these opportunities use the power of networking. Sign up for ZaaBiz and use the platform to connect with our members and find the right job.

Cricket, In the news, bangalore No Comments »

This year was again a turn around of the underdogs. Deccan Chargers, played their best, as a team defending their meager score of 143 against Bangalore. Hyderabad had a mixed set of gems that played good cricket last night and earned the title of Champions. Defending a mere 143 runs, Adam Gilchrist’s men provided the much needed spark to swing their side’s fortunes in an exceptional manner. They played their best cricket in all aspects of the game be it bowling or batting.

Now that the series is over we can expect to see some good cricket from Team India in the T20 world Cup.

ZaaBiz would like to congratulate the Champions on their victory.

Increased tax exemption limit - A boon for middle class

Uncategorized No Comments »

In the forthcoming session of the parliament the re-elected UPA government will present the budget. The tax exemption limit will be increased upto Rs 1.75-Rs 2 lakh from the current Rs 1.50 lakh, which is a great news for Indian middle class. The other benefit in the direct tax segments could be withdrawal of the Fringe Benefit Tax.

Raising of the tax exemption limit along with the withdrawal of FBT will act as another stimulus since the large middle class population will be left with more money in hand, especially at a time when the government is likely to release the remaining 60% salary arrears of the 6th Pay Commission. The removal of FBT has also been mooted by the commerce ministry. It had also sought continuation of interest rate subsidy while seeking to further raise it from the existing 2% to 4%.

Maruti 800 - Upgraded Engines

In the news, business networking No Comments »

Indian Automobile manufacturer Maruti has decided to continue selling its lowest end model car, the Maruti 800. It is a 25 year old brand an one of the highest selling cars of the country. However this up gradation of engine standards is to that of Euro IV emission systems. This is in line with President Obama’s view of urging automobile users to reduce fuel consumption and protect the environment. It is good to see growing concern among corporates and world leaders towards the environment.

Diwali on Dalal Street

dalal-streetIndian stock market is the best performing market in 2009. In one minute the market soared by 2911 points on a “Magnificent Monday” i.e. yesterday. The investors in the market are likely to get returns of around 48% in 2009. The unprecented jump in the market was due to UPA government coming back to power. But the FII investment would further increase if the government delivers on the policy front.

The Indian economy is growing at a pace of 7-8% inspite of the economic downturn and hence investors chasing performance would definitely pump monies into economy. While some experts feel there could some consolidation before the market moves on, analysts at Credit Suisse believe Indian stocks could overshoot considerably, global markets permitting, from pre-budget period to July. With investors in developed nations like Australia, France, the US, the UK and even Switzerland registering 1-6 % losses or at best, flat gains in 2009, experts believe India’s outperformance will bring in more FIIs, hedge funds and big institutional investors.

UPA back to power

rahul

On the eve of counting day, one exit poll after another showed the UPA edging ahead of the NDA. The BJP was quick to rubbish the findings, saying that exit polls were notoriously unreliable and would be proved wrong on May 16. The exit polls were indeed proved incorrect. But unfortunately for the BJP, they had in fact severely underestimated the strength of the UPA.

The biggest loser, though, is possibly L K Advani, who now appears doomed to be the Ivan Lendl of Indian politics, frequently a contender for the holy grail, but never getting it. It’s hard to see him leading the BJP in another Lok Sabha election. His moment has passed. Now, expect BJP’s Gen Next to start asserting itself. There were mutterings even during this election about anointing Narendra Modi as the BJP leader. Such talk is now bound to intensify.

Incidentally, Rahul Gandhi had a big role to play in the Congress’s gamble of going it alone in UP. Now that it has paid off, his political stature will rise by leaps and bounds. Also, he was the star campaigner for the Congress, clocking the most miles and addressing most rallies. True, the Congress has benefited from the efforts of several other leaders and chief ministers.

The UPA has a shot at another five-year term, and Manmohan Singh is not getting any younger. We at ZaaBiz congratulate UPA on their win and wish they fulfill all their promises made before elections.
